  • WELCOME!

Welcome to our blog. We're Gregory and Dave, a couple of professional San Francisco based photographers who have been shooting together since 2005. In the site, you'll find shoots from our coverage of weddings, events, corporate work, and anything else photo-related. Enjoy!

The Yellow House

Go to any paint or hardware store, and you will find that vast swatches of paint colors to choose from.

I used to wonder, “Who’d paint their house that color?”

Well, it seems like people do! Here in San Francisco, housing may be in short supply, hence the skyrocketing prices, but the number of homes painted in bright, vibrant, I’d-never-use-that-color-on-MY-house colors is not lacking.

So, from time to time, I’ll post photos of such examples. Here’s one from the archives:

Crown Hardware

I just want to give a shout-out to Crown Hardware, located on Balboa Street, near the corner of 37th Avenue, here in San Francisco’s Richmond District.

In an era of Home Depot’s and Lowe’s, it’s nice to see there’s still room for the existence of a local hardware store.

The biggest difference a local shop has is customer service.

First, since the store is small — Crown actually has a second location not more than a block away, for keys and security type of stuff — they cram a lot of stuff, and I mean a LOT! Thus, it’s almost imperative to speak to one of the staff persons, who will gladly find what you’re looking for.

It’s a great feeling of satisfaction to walk out of the store with the items that someone actually took the time to help retrieve (and even explain).

Here’s to local hardware stores!

Serenity

Now there’s a sci-fi film worth talking about.

In a time when more money and time is being poured into visual effects than say…STORY or sympathetic, well-rounded CHARACTERS (played by actors who can ACT), Serenity comes as great relief.

Based on Joss Whedon’s short-lived TV series, Firefly, Serenity recaps the origins of the show, but at the same time is a smart, complete storyline in itself.

Filled with great dialogue, unexpected twists in characters you think you might know, and a strong overall message and tone, Serenity is a film that can be enjoyed by audiences of many different tastes: from the diehard sci-fi fan, to the romantic, to the action/adventurer.

Check it out.
