Jaclyn & Matt Engagement Portraits | UC Davis

You never know what an act of kindness might lead to one day.

Take Jaclyn and Matt, for example. Ten years ago, they were freshman destined for classes in UC Davis’ Wellman Hall. However, they didn’t have classes together. Instead, fate had them meet as dormmates living on the same floor. You see, Jaclyn was having problems with her computer, and Matt just happened to have some computer expertise (something to do with being an EECS major) and offered to help…

So, who knew then…?

That years later, he’d propose to her in the parking lot of that very same dorm.

And just last weekend, we’d trek to that very same parking lot to meet up with them to shoot their engagement portraits!

They picked the right weekend for the shoot. Fall session had not begun yet, so we basically had the entire campus to ourselves (and various maintenance crews).

We first shot near their old dorm (instead of in it, since it was fenced off), went to check out the MU (also fenced off), the Quad (which was beautiful), the Library’s Egghead installation, a random yellow “school bus”, Wellman Hall, and the Arboretum.

One thing that stood out about that campus for me is that it’s FLAT, and thus conducive to bicycles and scooters, the latter of which was Jaclyn and Matt’s choice of transportation during their time there.

As we ended the session, they were gracious enough to treat us to dinner at Woodstock’s Pizza, a local sports bar.  The food was great, as was the conversation, and we found out that Jaclyn’s a ringer foosball player.

We wish to congratulate Jaclyn and Matt on their engagement, and for sharing some of their history at UC Davis with us. We are so looking forward to your wedding next year!
