Robin and Joey’s Wedding

What better way to kick off 2009 than with our first wedding of the year!

Robin and Joey actually eschewed a formal church ceremony, and instead were officially (or legally) married a couple of weeks prior.

What we were on hand for were two traditional Chinese Tea Ceremonies at their parents’ homes and their wedding banquet at East Ocean Hong Kong Seafood Restaurant.

While that sounds a bit more low key, Joey was in for a challenge right away, as his arrival at Robin’s parents’ home was met with…let’s just say, many guardians!

After the initial monetary bribes (lucky red envelopes!), Joey had to formally obtain the key to Robin’s room by completing a scavenger hunt all over the house that took a good 40 minutes. And even after retrieving the key, Joey had to sign the “official” marriage contract in front of a ton of witnesses.

And what was Robin doing during all this? Enjoying a good read!

Anyway, between tea ceremonies, we were able to get in a portrait session with the wedding party at the local marina — it was cold, but sunny!

It was a great day for a wedding, and we wish Robin and Joey all the best in their life together — cheers!
